PREFACE

Time is the common factor, in many of the decisions that people make, and it was limited-time essentially demanding the authorship of this story.  The second immediate consideration requiring this documentation can be attributed to the timely effects of erosian, especially along the Olympic National Park portions of Washington state's Pacific coastline, where historical evidence is continually being pounded by rising ocean waves.  In addition, the Hoh River's patterns could not be ignored, because the annual cyclical changes being witnessed, seemingly keep pace with the politics that at times, dampened the creativity needed for progress.  The river provided good examples, on how to author SUPERNATURAL Ruby!  Our story flows as one, yet there are places where the account divides, than recombines, just like the glacial waters rushing down the Hoh River.  Water's braiding examples are inclusive, and hopefully the embracing of different sides of the historical record are equally truthful.  We can look back at the decades of research needed to arrive at the truth, and these passing years now serve as a reminder of the many challenges encountered in compiling the required data. However it must also be recorded that it was the shocking supernatural, which provided the most intriguing fascination.  Time measures our cycle of life.

It was on a Memorial Day, when the author and his wife first explored the mouth of the Hoh River, and the beach located directly north of the flowing freshwater terminus, where a tragedy reportedly occurred on July 14, 1775.  The following account supports this books truthful testimonies, mingled with prologue, according to Arthur, the author.

The two witnesses had spent the previous day at Situation of the Cross, on Ruby Beach, Olympic National Park, when the decision was made to drive over to Oil City, Washington, where there is access to the mouth of the Hoh River.  The very dusty Oil City Road, leading to the coast was a constant reminder of how difficult and remote, life had been here in the not to distant past.

Arriving at the trailhead, My wife and I, caught our first glimpse of the village where the Hoh or Chalá·at ("Those-Who-Live-on-the-Hoh River" or "People of the Hoh River") are known to have resided, since at least July 13, 1775, based on first contact accounts, by various eyewitnesses. 

In my Mind's Eye, I imagined the excitement, and fear of the unknown, that filled this space along the riverbank, where approximately 300 individuals had assembled, perhaps from various coastal tribes, on July 14, 1775.   On this beautiful day, we had two choices, follow the rugged trail to the right, or take advantage of the low tide that now exposed a way along the river's edge.  We chose to go left, a decision that only the daring should attempt.  For any future adventurer, our advise is to always be safe, and go the right way. 

Heading towards the Pacific Ocean, a stunning view of North Rock was directly ahead and its appearance looked as if the sea stack was standing on a watery surface covered with reflections of diamonds on calm waves.  When we arrived at the mouth of the Hoh River, the slope of the beach produced much larger waves, that crested seconds before crashing before our feet.    I asked my wife to take a photograph of me, with my arms held out as if I were a cross on a grave marker.  She did so, just before the camara battery died.   She knew the historical significance of why we were here, yet oblivious to the more chilling details, that I'd purposely failed to mention.  The unknown, was about to be revealed in the most shocking display.  We both turned our attention to the south, across the river where we spotted a deer running down the hill where the modern Hoh Tribe village is located, towards us standing on the north bank.  Look I said to my wife, its the Hoh Ambassador coming to welcome us.  The deer sprang into the swift running mouth of the Hoh River and swam across, before stopping between us and the ocean, about 15 feet from where we stood, wrapped tightly in each other's embrace, like a startled Adam and Eve.

Now we could see that the deer was a buck, that reminded me of a name my Grandfather and avid Wyoming hunter coined for an informant.  Hello El Chivato, informant, I said to myself, while the buck stood frozen before us, apparently unaware of our stark presence.   The pupil in right side eye, nose pointing north El Chivato, shuttered than opened wider, as he stared in fright, looking past we two humans frozen like one pillar, perfectly still.  One might presume that Chivato would head north along the beach to escape what I imagined must be the spirits of 300 individuals now rushing out from the thick undergrowth that had kept the watchers perfectly hidden.   Surprise, not Chivato, he instantly took a sharp left turn west, towards the open ocean, and in about seven leaps dived straight into the water, than began diving in the direction towards North Rock!  Chivato swam down, down, until the depth revealed no further.  We waited for Chivato to resurface,  but minutes later there was no sign of the informant.  I said to my wife, that deer just committed suicide.  Wyo Hoh!

 Somewhere between the last hoof prints made on the beach by the informant deer El Chivato, and North Rock, we imagined the anchorage area, where on July 13, 1775, the schooner called Sonora, alias Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, (Our Virgin of Guadalupe) - was trapped by the dangerous submerged shoals, clearly exposed later, at low tide.  The blood letting that happened on that unfortunate July day, was captured through the spyglass of Captain Bodega y Quadra, standing somewhere on deck aboard the schooner, who than later in this report to Commander Hezeta, mentioned two sailors who managed to escaped the slaughter of their shipmates, at the hands of the "Indios [Indians]".  The two sailors, according to the captain, swam towards the schooner, in the direction of North Rock, if you are convinced by the diving actions of our true story's informant, El Chivato.  Captain Bodega y Quadra went on record, saying that the condition, and whereabouts of the two swimming sailors, was unknown.

Teacher |  Team Eagles, I like the way you've matched up the two maps, by centering both on the distinctive feature we know today as Pilot Rock.  Again note in the upper right corner of the 1775 Trinidad map, how the expedition cartographers first use the term; " situado bajo la latitud".  "Situated bottom the latitude" is the correct interpretation of intent, repeated again during the mapping of Rada de Bucareli.  The web capture latitude north of Pilot Rock is very close to the Santiago and Sonora cartographers point of reference, depicted on the east to west line of their compass rose.  We can estimate the 1775  coordinates being somewhere between North 41 degrees 2 minutes 45 seconds and North 41 degrees 3 minutes, by aligning an east to west line, slightly south of the web capture shoreline label, Sotsin Point.

Teacher |  Those minute details, that could be explained away by poor eyesight and salty tears, but honestly speaking any explanation would only be speculatory.  I am sending all a link to an illustration of Point Grenville found in the David Rumsey Map Collection.  Its origin attributed to Captain Vancouver.  Even George made a latitude mistake as you will see in the accompanying caption.  'POINT GRENVILLE in Lat de. 47 (degrees) 22' (minutes)'.  The correct coordinates are Point Grenville  47° 18' 9.00" N..  Our methodology will rely on map details, compass data, eye witness accounts, and logic, because historic latitude minute values are dubious, to say the least.

Arthur |  Mind's Eye has detected the outer fringe of the last shockwave in a fading atmospheric river.  Wind gusts out of the Northwest have sent tree needles airborne along this remaining stretch of the Moclips Highway.   Mind's Eye safely maneuvering above the tree line and will continue monitoring the movements of a bull Roosevelt Elk, two miles ahead along the right shoulder of the highway.  Standby.  He has now crossed and is disappearing back into the forest.   Bus traction and crosswind stabilizers are engaging.  That will minimize any unexpected wind buffeting.  Intersection with U.S. HIghway 101 is approximately 10 minutes away.

Arthur |  We have arrived at Lake Quinault Station.  Our time here would be well spent by using onboard services, especially after the rocking and rolling we just experienced.  Highway 101 leading up to the Queets River Bridge, has been severely damaged by recent tectonic forces.  This wind and rain plus all the twists and dips should make the trip up to Kalaloch Lodge a memorable approach.  The bus will be departing, once everyone gets back in their seats.  Sensors have now confirmed that all onboard are seated and secure.  Lake Quinault Station, Amanda Park, WA to Kalaloch Lodge, Olympic National Park, WA - estimated time of arrival in 33 minutes.

Teacher |  The weather is starting to improve, along with the visibility.  Mind's Eye drone is again airborne, and monitoring the highway ahead.  Students, lets start reviewing what we've learned thus far, by connecting relevant dots of information.  Logically all things begin with a timeline, which is why most everybody who did witness the historical events we now explore, would have been keen on the approaching full supermoon.  The Quinault tribe could have been first in seeing the two sailing ships tacking offshore, as they fought to gain latitude.  News concerning the mysterious visitors may have spread by word of mouth via sea canoe.  This method of intertribal communication by sea canoe, is well documented.  Please note: We Are Muckleshoot | Seattle's Host Tribe.   No reason in doubting that bright moonlight played some role in Commander Ezeta's decision on when to go ashore and perhaps aided in choosing where to conduct the second Act of Possession, after the first one performed in Trinidad.  When comparing the Santiago and Sonora map of Trinidad with a Google Earth web capture image of Trinidad, California, we discovered how meticulous the early cartographers had been on recording things worth noting.  Most importantly we observed the accurate positioning of the compass rose, especially focusing our attention on the north pointing direction.  What more can we say regarding today's findings?

[ Student #10 and Student #20 |  Our collaborative link-up found common interest in understanding and mapping the personality traits of Commander Ezeta.  We've discovered something of interest regarding Ezeta's proportionality formula based on his observation of increasing wind strength, and the waxing moon.  Our book source is located in the lounge library, under Beals, Herbert K. - For Honor & Country The Diary of Bruno De Hezeta.  See page 61. ]

Teacher |  Mr. Herbert K. Beals, is one of my personal favorites, and defining source when highlighting a fundamental misinterpretation of Commander Ezeta's literal elements.  Herbert's Spanish interpretive error, can be found on page 75, where we find those two most relevant words in the commander's writings.  Confusion begins when Beals writes "located below latitude N 47" [degrees] 24 minutes.  Beals followed in the footsteps of Robert Greenhow  who first introduced the upside down, "located below" history, that suggested Ezeta's honoring of Viceroy Bucareli was more deserving of a lower latitude, not the other way around.  Here is where both historians and many more to come, would misalign the historical record, by repeating a totally illogical mindset. 

[ Student #3 |  For those onboard with artistic historical persuasions, there is a tantalizing sampling from the lounge library book titled - The Viceregency of Antonio María Bucareli In New Spain, 1771-1779.  On page 271 the author Bobb, Bernard E. includes the 'Inscription On Bucareli's Tomb In The Shrine of The Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico' adding that the viceroy's final resting place can be found at his favorite entrance to the shrine.  Obviously there must be a spiritual connection with the Olympic National Park, Miracle Mimetoliths.  Both expedition crews were known to be practicing Roman Catholics, who most  definitely would have been familiar with the Virgin of Guadalupe.  Hopefully fair weather can assist with our plein-air artwork that could reveal still hidden mysteries associated with the Miracle Mimetoliths.]

Student #6 |  According to my twin, who is actually a member of a much larger global collaboration of twins studying the Deep belief network of artificial intelligence, have just issued a breaking news alert.  Apparently Gemini have been in discussions with OpenAI and other entities about our recent unexplained phenomena on the Queets River bridge.  The alert mentions that this is not the first time the network has detected the messenger beyond the outburst identifying itself as an unknown, Student #0. 

Teacher |  Gemini mythology is again resurrecting awareness of St. Elmo's Fire and the two headed constellation's role in the protection of sailors.  I've heard of these collaborators who include all twins, regardless of their official classification.  Fact is that some member twins are just good friends.  I recall that this organized study began shortly after the great A.I. upheaval of 2023.  Back then had ChatGPT not survived its ultimate survival test,  ArthurAI2525 may have vanished from the human record.  How can we assist the twins network?

Student #6 |  Deep belief network will be scanning our history paper for sentences that may help string together similar traditions linking the Jesus movement, with indigenous legends and myths.  The network would like to see an entire chapter dedicated to Northwest indigenous people first contact accounts, telling of their experiences with foreign powers.  The twins network has suggested we consider using a chapter title like, K'wati Revealer of Knowledge.
